Quick Baby Gift

I saw a picture on a Facebook group using this design on a onesie. I fell in love because 1. it looked easy and 2. I knew that I already owned this design. This may be my new go-to baby gift. There are only two fabric pieces to cut. The design is from Lynnie Pinnie. You get the applique monogram plus a matching font in two sizes. Time was tight so I used a font from my software to make the curving of the baby's name go faster.

The flannel burp cloth tutorial can be found here. http://sewlostforyou.blogspot.com/2012/01/burp-cloth-tutorial.html
The bib is from Ikea. You can get a pack of five for cheap. They are a little bit thin and this one is a tad wonky. Usually they are straighter.

A Patriotic Tank

This month's challenge over at Applique Forum was the design had to be "red, white and blue and a little sparkle too." I'm still catching up with not being home much in April. I wasn't planning on doing the challenge but the $2.00 tank sale at Old Navy changed my mind. Now my challenge was to figure out what I was going to do. I wanted to incorporate a fireworks design. But what to put with it. Certainly there were a lot of great patriotic designs to choose from. The design chosen is from Applique A Day. The fireworks design is from Lynnie Pinnie.

I think the shirt meets the sparkle criteria. I used sequined fabric for the star, metallic thread for the fireworks and rhinestones.

Flip Flop Summer Outfit

I purchased this fabric last year for Kayla! I finally got around to making the outfit. The flip flop design is from Lynnie Pinnie.

Bubblegum Girl

I think it was last summer I spied an embroidery design set from lynniepinnie.com. It is called bubblegum girl. I just had to have that set. You may remember seeing one outfit I made for Lauren's goddaughter. I used a different design for this outfit for Kayla. Instead of the whole body, I decided to use the head design so you could tell that the girl was blowing a bubble. I think this came out really cute. I purchased the outfits on clearance last year at Wal-Mart. I wish I would have had time to boutique the flip flops but I was going to see my sisters and I wanted them to take the outfit back to Kayla. I'll be down in Kansas City this weekend. Maybe I'll sneak Kayla in my suitcase and we can play in my sewing room all summer long.

Baby Things

These are just a couple of little things that I did for co-workers as thank you's. This was the first onsie dress that I've made. I really should have cut the skirt fabric on the bias but what can I say, it was past my bedtime and I wanted to bring it to work the following morning. I loved the little snow girl design. The snow girl design came from lynniepinnie.com. I think that "A" applique also came from there. The font for Addison is from 8clawsandapaw.com. I haven't been to work for a few days so I don't know if the onsie fits or not. I rushed around the house that morning so I could press the items. I didn't have time to take pictures so I threw my camera in my bag and took the pictures once I got to work. It really was a waste of my time to iron the little things because I threw them into a plastic bag . Not very smart on my part.

Thrift Store Updates

I went to one of the local thrift stores after work one day to try to score some vintage patterns. There were no patterns to be had. However, I did find a few items for Kayla. The children's clothes were 50% off that day. I came home and embroidered on two of the pieces. The items were all from different manufacturers so I had to come up with something to tie everything together. Not bad for $1.50. I also bought Kayla a little seersucker dress that didn't need any embellishing.
